Council eyes market
The Moorlands Council has unveiled plans to buy Cheadle Market – if it can reach agreement with the owners.
The council’s six-year lease of the indoor and outdoor markets ends next month.
Subject to council members approval, officials will talk with Northern Markets about a potential purchase.
Acquisition would give the council a free hand to revitalise the markets by improving facilities or by relocating to a new site.
