A landscape gardener from Stoke-on-Trent has pleaded guilty to the murder of midwife Samantha Eastwood, whose body was found in rural ground near Caverswall in the Moorlands.
Michael James Stirling, aged 32 from Cromer Road, admitted killing Samantha at her home in Greenside Avenue, Baddeley Green, between 26 July and 5 August 2018 during an appearance via video link at Northampton Crown Court on Monday October 22.
Stirling was remanded into custody to await sentencing on Monday, December 3 at Stafford Crown Court.
Twenty-eight-year-old Samantha was reported missing to police on July 27, 2018 after she failed to turn up at her night shift at the Royal Stoke University Hospital. Following an intensive search and investigation her body was found buried in rural ground near to Caverswall.
A post mortem has taken place but further tests are required.
