A bomb disposal team attended a scene in the Moorlands at the weekend.
Staffordshire Police tweeted on Saturday that a World War Two 40mm Bofors projectile had been found in an area of Biddulph.
A spokesman for the force said: “Many thanks to the EOD disposal team for attending an incident in Biddulph to deal with a device found by a member of the public.
“Luckily it was an WW2 40mm Bofors projectile that was expended and safe.”
They added: “There was no risk to the public at any time.”
