A long-standing member of staff at a Moorlands school will be retiring later this year.

Richard Hey will be retiring from his post of headteacher at Westwood College in Leek as of September this year.

In a letter to parents, chair of Governors for the college, John Fisher said: “We would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Mr Hey for his commitment as a teacher and latterly as the Headteacher.

“Generations of young people have benefited from his work to ensure that every child gets the best possible opportunity to be successful at Westwood. There is no doubt that this will be the case all through the rest of his tenure as Headteacher.”

The new headteacher at Westwood College has been appointed as former Westwood student Matthew Taylor, who will take up the post in September.
