This week sees national rollercoaster day. The Staffordshire Moorlands is home to some record breaking rollercoasters
the worlds first vertical drop rollercoaster, Oblivion, the worlds first inverted flying rollercoaster, Galactica (air) and the worlds first 14 looping rollercoaster, The Smiler
Alton Towers has them all and is right on our doorstep.
Nemesis is one of the best known rollercoasters in the country with many regarding it as the best in the country. In the golden ticket awards the Rollercoaster is still ranked the 20th best rollercoaster in the world, 25 years after it opened.
This year marks 25 years of the ride and Alton Towers are celebrating it this National Rollercoaster day (16th August)
To celebrate this weekend Nemesis will be open one hour longer than the rest of the rides and Alton Towers are offering a special weekend.
The first 250 riders of nemesis on the 16th,17th and 18th of August a special badge to celebrate the anniversary. Guests will also get the chance to meet John Wardley. Designer of Nemesis and someone who worked on a number of the Bond films as a special effects designer. If anyone takes an On-Ride photo of them on one of the parks coasters the will also be able to get into Alton Towers for £25.
