Leek Town were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Port Vale in the Blues first home match of the new season.

Neil Bakers men had travelled to Clayton Wood, the training base of Stoke City to play the Potters as well as visiting Alsager Town in midweek.

Tom Pope gave the Vale a half-time lead as he pounced on a mistake by Niall Green, before, new signing David Amoo managed to beat Danny Roberts to double the League Two side’s lead.

With just a few minutes to go Aaron Bott pulled one back to make the final score Leek Town 1 Port Vale 2 in front of a crowd with was reported to be over 1,000.
