Moorlands Radio Sports Roundup – 08/09/2018

There were no games in the Premier League and Championship on Saturday so Stoke City had the bonus of a weekend off.

In League Two – Port Vale traveled to Forest Green Rovers and came away with a share of the points courtesy of a Tom Pope penalty. The game finished 1-1.

Macclesfield Town were beaten away at Stevenage by a single goal.

In the Emirates FA Cup Preliminary Round Replay – Leek Town beat Charnock Richard by 3-2 in our live commentary game at Harrison Park. A Tim Grice brace and a moment of magic by Dan Trickett-Smith from a free kick were enough to see The Blues advance into the First Qualifying Round. They face Parkgate FC on Wednesday night.

Kidsgrove put in a fantastic shift to beat Atherton Colleries away by 2-1. Grove had been up against the odds from the off. They were missing six senior players through injury. Goals by Rhodes and Williamson saw Kidsgrove through to the next round.

Buxton march in in the FA Cup having seen off Barwell 4-2 away but it wasn’t such good news for Congleton Town who crashed out courtesy of a 1-0 home defeat to Consett.

In the Evo-Stik Div 1 West – Newcastle Town were beaten at home 3-2 by Prescot Cables.

In the Hallmark Securities Div 1 South Alsager Town beat Daisy Hill comprehensively by 5-3 but Abbey Hulton United were thrashed 6-0 away to Rylands.

In the Staffs County Senior League Cup, Leek CSOB travelled to Eastwood Hanley and came away with a comprehensive 4-1.

The North Staffs and South Cheshire Cricket League suffered a wash out due to the weather. All teams were awarded 2 points for postponed or abandoned games.
