Tourist hot spot to join in commemorations on Remembrance Sunday

A scenic tourist spot in the Moorlands is set to join in on the forthcoming commemorations of 100 years since the end of the First World War.

At 6am on Remembrance Sunday a traditional Scottish lone piper will play ‘Battle’s O’er’ on the Dam Head at Rudyard Lake, near Leek. It will be followed by the reading of a tribute.

Then at 10.30am a Remembrance Day Service will take place at The Rudyard Chapel, Lake Road – followed by a procession to the village’s Jubilee Stone.

During the day there will be A ‘Dazzle Boat’ featured on Rudyard Lake and a scale model Battle Ship will be plying the reservoir and firing its cannons from time to time.

Later at 6.55pm a bugler will sound The Last Post at the Dam Head and then a Beacon on board a boat on the lake will be lit at 7pm.
