Westwood College in Leek are happy with their results
“As one of Staffordshire’s top performing Sixth Forms we have become used to our students doing well, and we are really pleased to report that this year’s students have again done themselves proud. This year’s results see the last few subjects join the new, more demanding A level specifications and the first sets of results for more difficult Level 3 Vocational qualifications. In both A level and Vocational courses and it is good to see that Westwood students have maintained already impressive levels of performance across all areas of the curriculum.

Throughout the sixth form students have applied themselves with determination and perseverance and with the commitment and inspiration of their teachers and support and patience of their families they have been rewarded with some superb results.

With over 40% of all Level 3 examination entries returning a grade of A*, A or B (67% A*-C), Westwood students performed at levels that allow them access to all the top Universities. Performance was strong across the board with over half of all entries in Art, Design, Drama, English Literature, French and German achieving these top grades.

We take pride in being an inclusive College and our students can celebrate results that go beyond the purely academic. The results for our Level 3 Vocational courses were also strong with a pass rate of 100% and an average grade per entry above a Merit.
Overall 16 students of the 92 gained at least grades ABB or equivalent in their best three subjects.

Performance at this level has enabled students to progress to an impressive range of Higher Education opportunities including; Environmental Science (Bangor), Business Management (Lincoln), Geography (Lancaster), Chemistry (Loughborough), Modern Foreign Languages (Liverpool), History (Keele), Fashion (Lincoln), History and Politics (Oxford), Marine Biology (Liverpool), Art (Edinburgh), Policing and Criminal Investigation (Staffs), Ancient History (Nottingham), Business (Monmouth USA), Sport and Exercise Science (Nottingham Trent), Education Studies (Staffs) and Sociology (Manchester).

The list of Higher Education destinations for our students this year is every bit as impressive as their results.
We are absolutely delighted to see so many students do so well. Many congratulations to everyone who has contributed to this success.”
