Work is taking place to produce a neighbourhood plan for a Moorlands town.

Work is taking place to produce a neighbourhood plan for a Moorlands town.
Leek Town Council is producing a Neighbourhood Plan and a steering group of residents has been formed to help the council to produce the plan.
Neighbourhood Plans are a means for the local community to have a say over policies governing the future development of the town.
The website – www.loveleek.org – has now been set up as part of the consultation process for the production of the plan. The site provides a description of the plan, the stages of public consultation, along with contact details to submit thoughts and questions about the plan.
Leek schools were recently invited to take part in a competition to design a logo for the website. This was won by All Saints’ First School Emily Fleet who received a £20 voucher from the chairman of Leek Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group, Peak District National Park Councillor Lesley Roberts.
Emily said: “I feel happy that I have won, and I really enjoyed designing the logo. I chose the monument, the library and the church as they are special buildings to Leek.”
Lesley added: “It’s been pleasing to receive such a good response from the children.
“I think that in terms of succession planning for Leek area we need to involve the youngsters and their parents to gather their appreciation and opinions.”
