Dave Stringer in Conversation with Deb McAndrew of Claybody Theatre

Claybody Theatre has become an iconic Stoke-on-Trent brand.

They have managed to transform part of the Spode Works into an excellent performance space.

Claybody, under the management of Artistic Directors Deb McAndrew and Conrad Nelson, have put together a series of high-class productions which always seem to contain more than a passing nod to their adopted home city.

The latest Claybody offering is the wonderful adaptation of Arnold Bennett’s The Grand Babylon Hotel. It’s first outing was at the New Vic Theatre where it was a fantastic success. It’s second run is at Spode’s The Dipping House before embarking on a tour of selected venues in the UK.

You are probably too late to get tickets for the Dipping House performances – tickets sell out really quickly but please, I urge you, to make sure you sign up to notifications, so you don’t miss out on their future productions. In a way, for us Stokies, it’s a way of celebrating life in the Potteries and our fantastic heritage. Sign up to become a friend of Claybody here

I managed to chat with Deb at the end of one of the evening performances of The Grand Babylon Hotel and she told me how she transforms the idea of a production into a live theatre production. have a listen below:
